Let’s Play 2014 – Coming this Fall

Let’s Play Green Bay will be moving to the fall in 2014 and we’ll be in a new venue with capacity for all night gaming, rooms to sleep in and a whole lot more.

Watch for the grand announcement in April, but the current plan is to host this great event in October or early November.

We wouldn’t want to steal any of the Packers thunder – so we’ll make the announcement very shortly after their schedule is released.

If you’d like to be a part of the fun – vendors and exhibitors can contact us at mail@letsplaygreenbay.com.

Event registration will also go live in May – and you’ll be able to set up and host your favorite game!

Watch this site and the Let’s Play Green Bay Facebook Page for more information as the weather gets a little warmer.

There are a lot of games at Let’s Play Green Bay and some of them are not available anywhere else – yet. Here’s a list of the ones we already know will be available to try and in some cases pick up for sure. (Some may be in very limited quantity)

Adventure Maximus – from Eden Studios http://www.adventuremaximus.com

Adventure Maximus! It’s a game where kids easily create characters, plan and run adventures, find treasures and be heroes! Adventure Maximus! inspires creativity, problem solving and provides quality face time with other human beings rather than staring into computer screens.

The Biking Game – from Educational Outdoors http://www.educationoutdoors.net/

The Biking Game by Schwinn was created to inspire families and bike enthusiasts to get outside and

enjoy one of America’s greatest recreational activities together. The game is designed to grow with the player, starting at level one questions, which are primarily identification of basic bike parts and riding etiquette. As the players increase in their knowledge about biking culture they grow into the higher level questions. A fun & educational game where parents & children can race to see who can get their bike through multiple terrain and back home first. All while sharing favorite biking memories and creating new ones!

Education Outdoors will have both of the new Bike games available to take for a ride in their booth at Let’s Play Green Bay

Settlers of Catan – Explorers and Pirates – http://mayfairgames.com/game.php?id=401

Take your Catan game over the horizon and discover a life of island adventure with Catan: Explorers and Pirates™! The five scenarios in this set require you to master not one island but three, and the sea as well! With a wealth of new pieces, rules and options, Klaus Teuber’s masterpiece is more compelling than ever!

Explore and trade with ships designed to carry settlers, cargo or adventurers. Settle new lands, battle pirates, acquire spices and locate the grand banks of Catanian fish!

The Catan: Explorers and Pirates™ expansion features five scenarios and three missions. Some of the scenarios make use of the missions while others do not, allowing you to mix and match for maximum variety and replayability.

Explore Catan:Explorers and Pirates in the Mayfair Games booth – with a limited number of copies being available for purchase at the Gnome Games booth as well!

Smash Up! Awesome Level 9000 – Alderac Entertainment http://www.alderac.com/smashup/awesome-level-9000/

The Smash Up: Awesome Level 9000 expansion features 4 all-new distinct factions that you can mix and match to defeat your opponents. Try them with the Core Set to create exponential new combinations!

Smash Up, designed by Paul Peterson, is the Shufflebuilding game from Alderac Entertainment Group. In Smash Up players take two factions, such as pirates, ninja, robots, zombies, and more, and combine their decks into a force to be reckoned with!

When the game begins, players take turns drafting one of several faction decks. Once each player has two decks, they shuffle them together, combining their distinct abilities into a unique 40-card deck. Players then deal out a number of Base cards, and play their decks to attempt to have the most power on a base when it is scored.

You’ll be able to play Smash Up and experience the Awesome Level 9000 expansion in the Board Game Library at Let’s Play Green Bay all weekend long!

WizKids announced today that the Star Trek Attack Wing will be available to see and play in an oversized WORLD PUBLIC PREMIER demo at Let’s Play Green Bay April 12,13,14! It features collectible pre-painted Star Trek ships and the FlightPath™ maneuver system licensed from Fantasy Flight Games. Under license by CBS Consumer Products, Star Trek: Attack Wing is expected to launch late summer at Gen Con Indy 2013.

Players engage in exploration and combat, traversing sprawling Star Trek space maps made available via an in store Organized Play program. As commander, players have the ability to customize, upgrade, and assign famous crewmembers to their fleets, which feature ships from the series’ prominent empires and forces as well as special stats and abilities, and unique maneuvers on separate HeroClix Combat Dials™.

“The FlightPath™ maneuver system used in FFG’s game is an amazing system for free-form movement in a space combat game,” said Justin Ziran, president at WizKids. “It’s a natural fit for the Star Trek universe. Players familiar with the FlightPath™ system will most definitely enjoy Star Trek: Attack Wing.”

Let’s Play Green Bay will have an oversized demo of the game on the floor all weekend. “We are excited to bring a game like Star Trek Attack Wing to the floor at Let’s Play as it brings the best from two of our sponsors together – Fantasy Flight and WizKids” according to Pat Fuge – Let’s Play Director. “It is this type of cooperative venture that is at the very heart of Let’s Play and we are honored to be able to share it with the community at Let’s Play Green Bay 2013″.

Let’s Play call for volunteers!

Let’s Play Green Bay will be here in just over a week and we’ve EXPLODED! We’ve got over 20 manufacturers and publishers coming, with hundreds of games to teach, play and have fun with.

To make this all work – we need a little help. We need some folks to help in the booths, as runners, and to help with the game libraries and events. That’s where you come in.

We need responsible hard working volunteers to work with us and earn a badge and become part of Let’s Play Green Bay. Plus these hours can count toward your service learning hours at most area schools!

Here’s how you can help.

First let us know you want to help. We ask that all volunteers be 16+, unless you are working directly with your parents.

Send an email to volunteer@letsplaygreenbay.com

Include your name, email, age, gaming experience and tell us why you’d make a great volunteer. Don’t worry if you know absolutely nothing about the games – we need runners and other helpers too. Please include when you are willing and available to work and a phone number so we can contact you with any questions.

Then plan on attending the Let’s Play Volunteer Meeting and Game Day at Gnome Games Green Bay East on Sunday, April 7th from 3:00 – 6:00. We’ll get to know you learn a little bit about you and see if you would be a good fit for a particular game or job.

We’ll assign duties and times early next week, and then you’ll be all set to help us!

We’ve got a few perks too –

Work 4 Hours get a 1 day pass
Work 8+ Hours get a weekend pass

Plus there are volunteer shirts and the eternal appreciation of all the folks that get to play at Let’s Play Green Bay.
